Information for Students of the UASS
Studying / Working Abroad:
In principle there are two possibilities of spending one or two semesters abroad: either studying at one of Schmalkalden's partner universities, or completing an internship in an international firm. The International Office will personally advise you as to your individual opportunities. The purpose of the period abroad can vary. Alongside normal study or participating in practical training, you can research or write your Diplom-Arbeit, or work on special projects.
The International Office support programme comprises:
- Partner Universities
- E.U. Programmes "Socrates/Erasmus"
- DAAD Programmes
- Fulbright Commission
- E.U. Programms
- "Leonardo da Vinci"
- Carl Duisberg Society (CDG)
- Own initiative
Important application deadlines for grants ! Up to more than one year prior to going abroad ! Learn the language early ! Holiday courses on one's own initiative !
Diplom-Arbeit abroad: There is a special programme from the DAAD which supports the writing of Diplom-Arbeiten abroad.
Further details are available from the International Office or from Prof. Dr. Schuster, Faculty of Management and Economics.
International university partnerships: The University's co-operation programme with international universities is constantly being expanded, in order to give all students the possibility to integrate a period abroad into their degree course.
Where Schmalkalden students ultimately end up studying abroad depends on individual interests and personal requirements, as well as on the partner universities of the faculty in which one studies (Management and Economics ME, Business Law BL, Computing C, Engineering E, Electrical and Information Technology EI).
