Exkursion zur BASF Ludwigshafen - einem der größten Chemiewerke der Welt

ASSEX 24 - the excursion of the scientific assistants of the Applied Plastics Technology research group led this time to BASF in Ludwigshafen. It provided an exciting insight into polymer development, from the compounding of new plastic formulations to sampling in the pilot plant and testing the material properties. The tour of one of the world's largest chemical plants then gave an impressive demonstration of the full-scale production of plastics. BASF also provided information about the requirements for graduates entering the company.

The excursion takes place annually as a joint event between the Chairs of Plastics Technology at Ilmenau University of Technology (Prof. Florian Puch) and Chemnitz University of Technology (Prof. Andreas Seefried) and the AKT at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences. The doctoral students present their own research work in lectures, which enables a scientific dialog between the employees. The excursion also offers a valuable opportunity to think outside the box and to establish your own networks.
