Abstract paintings by Jochen Walter

Immerse yourself in the world of abstract painting: following the positive response to his first exhibitions, Jochen Walter returns to the Cellarius Library with a new series of works. Under the title 'Unpredictable Compositions', the Suhl-based artist presents captivating, abstract colour compositions created using the pouring technique.

By pouring liquid acrylic paints onto canvas, he creates unique, unrepeatable pictorial worlds. The intense colour gradients and organic shapes give Jochen Walter's works the appearance of living landscapes. For about a year, the painter has been playing with the dynamics of movement and the unpredictable reactions of colour. Each work is a colourful experiment determined by chance and the artist's intuition - a fascinating interplay of control and freedom.

Jochen Walter's expressive works will be on display at the Cellarius University Library from 27 January to 28 April. Some works are also available for purchase.

 

Hintergrund

Jochen Walter wurde 1952 in Gräfenroda geboren und lebt seit 1967 in Suhl. Seine Leidenschaft für die Kunst und besonders für die Malerei wurde maßgeblich von seinem Onkel, dem Suhler Bildhauer Erich Wurzer, und dem befreundeten Meininger Maler Hans Hattop gefördert. Die moderne Malerei entdeckte er nach dem Besuch einer Sonderausstellung des MoMA in Berlin im Jahre 2004 für sich. Zuvor malte er hauptsächlich Landschaftsbilder und Blumenstillleben.
