Incoming student mobility (SM) at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences

Welcome to SUAS, the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences! We are delighted to welcome students from all over the world as part of the Erasmus+ programme. Our aim is to guarantee you have a successful and enriching stay. As a partner university in the Erasmus+ programme, SUAS follows the guidelines of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027, which ensures high standards in the administration and implementation of mobility programmes, transparency and support for international students.

Nomination and application

Nomination by the home university

Your home university officially nominates the students for the Erasmus programme at SUAS. This nomination is usually made by the International Office of the home university and is sent to Department 1 – Studies and International Relations at SUAS.

Application documents

After nomination, the student will receive information from Department 1 – Studies and International Relations at SUAS about the required application documents. The application documents should be submitted in full and on time. Please note the specific requirements and deadlines.

  • Application form

  • Learning Agreement, countersigned by the home university and SUAS

  • Letter of motivation

  • Curriculum vitae (CV)

  • Transcript of Records from the home university

  • Passport copy and passport photos

  • Language certificates (depending on the degree programme)

Submission of the application

Students submit their application documents online via the SUAS application portal. The usual deadlines are:

  • 31 May for the winter semester

  • 30 November for the summer semester

Once the application documents have been successfully checked, the student will receive a letter of acceptance from Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences.

Support and integration measures

With the letter of acceptance, students can plan further steps for their stay in Germany, such as buying a health insurance, applying for a visa (if necessary) and finding accommodation. SUAS will support you in many practical matters.

We offer extensive support and integration measures to make it easier for you to get started. These also include orientation days, welcome days, mentoring programmes and regular information events to help you settle in and give you the opportunity to get to know other international students and locals.
