Project Q-Schaum

Object of research

The aim of the project is to develop a simple test method for evaluating a foamed component during production so that subsequent rejects can be minimised.

  • Development of a test method based on vibration excitation to map the cell quality.
  • Determination of the foaming condition over the wall thickness and the entire component.
  • Early detection of faulty components.
  • Demonstrate suitability in industrial production.

Results

  • Development of demonstrators
  • Investigating the parameter influences on the foam structure
  • Characterise and qualify foam structure with selected sensors and adapted measurement technology
  • Providing proof of function
  • Analysing simple and complex foamed plastic components
