Search catalogues and subject databases

Own end devices

University members can access all licensed electronic resources from the Cellarius University Library on their own devices.

Access to licensed electronic resources outside the university's stationary computers requires a VPN (Virtual Private Network). We recommend the VPN client software Cisco AnyConnect for this purpose. Installation instructions can be found in the wiki of the University Computer Centre.

In the catalogue you can search the printed and electronic books as well as printed journals of the Cellarius University Library.
The catalogue is not suitable for finding articles.

The Discovery Service is an extended library catalogue. It allows you to search in a variety of reference and full-text databases.

In the search mode "Additional bibliographic databases" you can search holdings of other libraries.

In the Database Information System (DBIS) you will find subject databases and general databases that are accessible in the Cellarius University Library.

You can search for specific database types via the advanced search ("Erweiterte Suche"): e.g. for article databases or image databases.

Some database descriptions in DBIS have an English content description. A translation of the user interface is in preparation.

The Electronic Journals Library (EZB) is a directory of scientific full-text journals.

Traffic light symbols indicate whether the required volume of a journal is accessible at the Cellarius University Library.

The hit lists show journal titles, but not individual articles.

In the German Union Catalogue of Serials (ZDB), you will find serial titles, newspapers, databases, yearbooks etc., in short, everything that was and is being published periodically in printed or electronic form and that is available in German and Austrian institutions.

On the European level access to digitized newspapers will be constantly expanded.

In the database Online Contents (OLC) you have access to 50 million articles from over 30.000 scientific periodicals beginning with the year of publication 1993.

For this database the table of contents of all different subjects with the emphasis on natural science and economics are recorded and made searcheable.

The articles can be ordered online via Inter Library Loan (ILL) or the document delivery service Subito or accessible online free of charge.

The Common Union Catalogue (GVK) covers the holdings of over 78,8 million records of books, conference proceedings, periodicals and electronic resources of more than 1,000 member libraries (GBV and the SWB).

Nearly all titles listed can be ordered via Inter Library Loan (ILL) or Subito document delivery service.

The Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog (KVK) is a search engine for finding several hundred million books, journals and other resources in library and book trade catalogues and open access databases worldwide.

Google Scholar is a search engine that indexes the full text or metadata of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines.

National licences

Aim

In order to sustainably improve the supply of electronic subject information at German universities, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) finances the acquisition of so-called national licenses.

The acquired products are databases, digital text collections and electronic journals.
