The two-day careers fair has been taking place on the Schmalkalden University campus since yesterday. The aim is to make contact with students, network and hold interesting discussions. This offer is taken up by 91 companies from all over Germany.
Stadtwerke Meiningen is taking part for the first time this year. Here, too, the shortage of skilled workers is making itself felt. "Previously, we were always able to fill vacancies in this way and didn't have to worry about anything else," says Anne Hempel, Marketing & Public Relations Manager at Stadtwerke Meiningen. That has now changed. "We are also feeling the change," says Oliver Plambeck, Head of Shared Service. "Young applicants have become much more professional, so we need to address this target group separately." It has also become much more difficult to find good specialists.
osephin Hipper is a graduate of Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences and now works for the confectionery manufacturer Storck on site: "I studied business law here," said the young HR manager. "When I walked across the campus today, I realized how beautiful it is here." Having once come to Storck herself via the careers fair, she has followed the classic career path. "I did my mandatory internship at Storck and wrote my master's thesis here and now I'm on the other side," says Hipper. She is constantly on the lookout for new employees for her company. For example, students can complete their internship in personnel management or quality assurance.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, visitors will also have the opportunity to get to know the companies on site and make contact with potential employers. In personal discussions, they can find out about vacancies, opportunities for starting a career and questions about internships or student traineeships.
In addition, there will once again be a varied supporting program with an application portfolio check by experienced HR managers from the companies as well as a free professional photo shoot for application photos.
