During a seven-day study trip, ten students from Hochschule Schmalkalden gained deep insights into Poland's historical, sociocultural, and economic structures. Under the title WROCLAW SYMPOSIUM: Silesia’s Historical Trajectory with Emphasis on its Technical and Economic Emergence in Eastern Europe, the program, in collaboration with Politechnika Wrocławska, particularly explored the bilateral relations between Poland and Germany.
In addition to in-depth seminars at the partner university Politechnika Wrocławska, one of the country's leading and highest-ranked technical universities, and a diverse exchange with local students, visits to VOSS Automotive Polska in Legnica, the Willy Brandt Center in Wrocław, the Kreisau Foundation for European Understanding, and the Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Wrocław provided the scholars with valuable and lasting insights. Workshops on historical topics and intercultural competencies further enriched the program, making it a unique experience for all participants.
Bulbul Khan Monna, a Master’s student in Applied Computer Science and Student Assistant at Hochschule Schmalkalden, expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the DAAD Short-Term Mobility to Poland: “From the very first day to the last, each day brought new and enriching experiences, providing invaluable insights into the history and culture of Poland. I also gained a fundamental understanding of research and engineering in the country. This programme has been a profound experience of personal growth, and I am confident that the knowledge and insights gained will greatly assist me in the future.”
