You have successfully passed all the required examinations? Then you still have to write your Bachelor's or Master's thesis in order to obtain the academic degree of "Bachelor" or "Master". The Bachelor's or Master's thesis is a scientific paper on a topic relevant to your studies, which must be written using scientific methods or procedures within a specified period of time.

Preparation

When it comes to your thesis, good preparation is essential. This starts with finding both a suitable supervisor and a topic, formulating a clear research question, accumulating literature and working through the research material. If you are writing your thesis in cooperation with a company, you will need an advisor there as well.

In the respective study and examination regulations of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, you will find important information on matter such as the processing time, submission and assessment criteria for your thesis. Submission of the Bachelor's or Master's Thesis and Conduct of the Colloquium

After the preparations for your Bachelor's or Master's thesis have been completed, you must apply to your faculty for the issue of the Bachelor's or Master's thesis. You can find the relevant information and the application form on the faculties' websites. 

After submitting the Bachelor's or Master's thesis, the defence takes place (not at the Faculty of Economic Sciences). For this purpose, an application for the colloquium on the Bachelor's or Master's thesis must be submitted to the relevant faculty. Further information can be found on the websites of the faculties.

During the colloquium, you will present the results of your thesis to an examination committee and answer questions from the examiners. The grade for the colloquium is included in the overall thesis grade.

Issue of the certificate
