Night of the libraries 2025

Join us for the First Nationwide "Night of the Libraries"!

On Friday April 4th, 2025, “Night of the Libraries” will take place for the first time nationwide in Germany.

With the motto “Knowledge, Share, Discover,” libraries across Germany will open their doors for an exciting night of discovery. In Schmalkalden, both the Cellarius University Library and the Heinrich Heine Public Library are joining the celebration with unique activities.

At the Cellarius University Library, enjoy a live robotics demonstration by Engineers Without Borders, explore the future of technology with our Maschinenbau Faculty, and check out the Unpredictable Compositions abstract art exhibition by Jochen Walter.

Meanwhile, at the Heinrich Heine Public Library, discover the Schmalkalden Between Book Covers exhibition, showcasing regional history.

Both libraries will be open until 10pm. All events are free, and everyone is welcome!
