Borrowing

Online user account

In your library account in the Online Catalogue and Discovery Service you have the option to

  •     extend the loan period up to one day before expiration,
  •     reserve items (if the item has not been reserved or the loan period has expired),
  •     cancel reservations and
  •     view fees.

The library number is on the back of your thoska card. The start password is your date of birth in the format DDMMYY.

If you have forgotten your password, please use the "Forgot password" function in the library account.

You can borrow all items from locations A, A/LBS and EPB (first floor). The loan period is 29 calendar days.

You can borrow items in person by presenting your own valid library card (thoska card). To do this, you must present the items to be borrowed at the circulation desk.

In exceptional cases, you may authorize another person to borrow items.

The items in the "LS" location (1st floor) are intended for use in the library rooms. Short-term lending is possible in exceptional cases.

Three days before the loan period expires, you will receive a reminder e-mail so that you can extend the loan period of your items if necessary.

Extensions of the loan period are possible up to three times (as long as the item has not been reserved or the loan period has expired):

You can return your borrowed media as follows:

  • in person or by another person during opening hours
  • by mail: The package must arrive at the library before the loan period expires. The shipping risk is assumed by the person sending the items.
  • outside opening hours via the return box

After the loan period has been exceeded, a written reminder will be sent, subject to a fee.

The first and second reminders are sent by e-mail, the third reminder is sent by registered mail ("Einschreiben").

The amount of the reminder fees is specified in the administrative cost regulations.

If the medium you want is already on loan, you can reserve it. To do so, please use the "Reserve" link that is displayed in the Online Catalogue or Discovery Service next to the respective item.

As soon as the item is ready to be checked out, a note will appear in your library account in the Online Catalogue and in the Discovery Service online catalog. You will also receive an email notification.

Your thoska card is not transferable to another person.

In exceptional cases, it is possible for you to authorize another person to borrow items.

To do this, the person you authorize must bring the authorization form you have filled out and your thoska card.
