Two-day excursion to Schweinfurt: Business law students gain deep insight into exciting career profiles

Studierende besuchen Unternehmen

During an intensive and informative two-day excursion to Schweinfurt, students from the Faculty of Business Law gained deep insight into the diverse and exciting career opportunities available to graduates of business law.

Many students in the Faculty of Business Law come from the Schweinfurt region. Together with the initiator, Prof. Dr. Matthias Schneider, visits were made to various organizations from different sectors where former graduates of the university are already working successfully. This exchange enabled the students to compare the theoretical content of their studies directly with professional practice.

The varied program included:

  • Schaeffler Technologies: A global technology group offering insight into the work of a legal director and a head of export control and sanctions in the international economy.
  • Pickel & Partner Steuerberatung and Pickel & Mehler Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft: Medium-sized law firms that shed light on the spectrum from tax consulting to working as an audit assistant.
  • Schweinfurt State Building Authority: A state authority where the role of a construction lawyer and department head in the public sector was discussed.
  • A municipal company (in the energy or utilities sector): Here, the focus was on the role of a regulatory manager.
  • A notary's office: To learn about the legal and administrative tasks of a legal assistant in a notary's office.

Direct contact with practitioners—many of whom are former students themselves—made it clear that the combined legal and economic training provided by the business law program creates an exceptionally broad foundation. The career profiles presented illustrate how the skills acquired can be applied in a wide variety of industries and roles.

The excursion not only provided valuable networking opportunities, but also offered students guidance for their future career planning and motivated them for the remaining semesters. Beyond the technical insights, participants emphasized the indispensable value of personal networking. Discussions with specialists and managers at the various stops not only allowed questions about specific fields of activity, but also enabled students to make valuable initial contacts for internships, theses, or future career opportunities. The excursion thus reinforced the importance of integrating theory and practice at an early stage and consolidated the specific career goals of the aspiring commercial lawyers. The students returned to their everyday university life with a wealth of information and new motivation.
