Diversity Officer
In accordance with Section 7 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act, Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences has a diversity officer. She represents the interests of all members, relatives, doctoral candidates, and applicants to the university. In particular, she ensures that all members and affiliates, regardless of their ethnic origin, gender, religion or worldview, disability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation, can participate equally in research, teaching, studies, and continuing education within the scope of their tasks, rights, and obligations at the university.
The Diversity Officer performs the following tasks, among others:
- Acting as the main contact person for all members, relatives, doctoral candidates, and applicants to the university in cases of diversity-related matters.
- Supporting and advising students on disadvantage compensation procedures.
Participating in appointment committees for the recruitment of professors to ensure diversity, inclusion, and impartiality in the recruitment process. - Awareness-raising measures for diversity.
- Participation in meetings and committees at the University of Schmalkalden.
Regular coordination meetings with equal opportunities officers, representatives for people with disabilities, staff council, and inclusion officers. - Collaboration in Thuringia-wide and nationwide networks.
