International Studies at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences
Are you interested in studying abroad and looking for a globally oriented degree program with excellent career prospects? We offer you the opportunity to study in English—and in some cases also in Spanish—in the fields of robotics, computer science, business, and law. At Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, you’ll combine a solid foundation in your field of study and foreign languages with specialized intercultural knowledge on a personal, multicultural campus with a friendly atmosphere.
The “Global Player” Factor
The economy is interconnected. Whether in mechanical engineering, business law, or management, hardly any company operates solely on a local level anymore. For example, you’ll learn how global supply chains work, how to draft legally sound international contracts, and how global markets function.
Intercultural Competence (Soft Skills)
You can Google technical knowledge, but not empathy and adaptability. Through the integrated study abroad program, you’ll learn to collaborate effectively with people from other cultures. In teams, this skill is often more important than a high grade in math. You’ll become a “bridge builder” within the company.
Breaking Down Language Barriers
Fluent English (or another foreign language) is essential at the executive level. You won’t learn the language dryly from a textbook, but will apply it in professional contexts and everyday life. This gives you a confidence that is immediately apparent in job interviews.
“Out-of-the-box” thinking
If you always stay in the same place, you always think the same way. A semester abroad forces you to step outside your comfort zone. You’ll discover different approaches to solving technical or legal problems. This mental flexibility makes you extremely resilient in the face of crises.
The global network
In Schmalkalden, you’ll meet incoming students from all over the world, and abroad you’ll make your own connections. You’ll build a global network even while you’re still studying. Who knows—maybe the person sitting next to you in class will later be your contact for a job in the U.S., Asia, or Europe?
Bachelor's degree programs with an international focus
