The Schmalkalden University campus regularly hosts events for pupils or entire school classes. Teachers can also register their classes for an individual campus tour. This gives pupils an insight into student life, the university's modern facilities and the opportunity to ask students questions.

Student Research Center

The Schmalkalden Student Research Center supports students and their supervising teachers in the implementation of projects in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. The focus is on enthusiasm and the desire to find out more. Whether it's a project for Jugend forscht or a working group - we offer competent support.

Youth research

Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences is a long-standing organizer of the regional "Jugend forscht" competition in southwest Thuringia. Young people with a passion for STEM can submit a project for "Jugend forscht" or "Schüler experimentieren" each year as part of the competition.

World Robot Olympiad (WRO)

World Robot Olympiad

The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is an international robotics competition for children and young people aged 8 - 19. Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences will host the regional competition in the "Future Innovators" category every year from 2023. This makes Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences the second location for the annual regional competitions in eastern Germany alongside Chemnitz.

Lecture in the classroom

Professors visit interested students in the classroom and give keynote speeches. If required, the teaching units can also be held on site in lecture halls at the university. The topics of the teaching units are based on the university's main areas of research.

Campus & University Library

Get to know our modern and comfortable campus with its university library. A tour of the campus will give you an impression of how short the distances are at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences and how study and leisure go hand in hand here.

The Cellarius University Library cooperates with vocational training centers and grammar schools with the aim of introducing pupils to researching scientific literature. Students from the 10th grade onwards learn how and where to find current literature for their seminar papers by means of practical exercises.

Schnupperstudium

The taster course offers pupils and prospective students their first authentic insights into teaching and everyday student life at our university. In this way, they can find out which degree courses they particularly like and might be suitable for them. Participation is aimed at pupils in years 10 to 13.

With the University Information Day, we offer prospective students the opportunity to explore our modern campus on site and talk to students and professors. The program for our University Information Day follows some time before the event, which usually takes place once a year in June.
