🎓 Academic Qualification
You need a higher education entrance qualification equivalent to the German Abitur – usually your final school certificate. This qualification is the formal proof that you are eligible to study at a university in Germany.

🧭 University Entrance Examination
If your school certificate is not directly recognized in Germany, you have the option to take a university entrance examiniation. After successful application, you will be enrolled provisionally for two semesters. If you earn at least 30 ECTS credits during this time, you will be formally admitted to your degree programme.

🎓 Academic Qualification
- A completed Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 210 ECTS credits
- Good to very good academic performance in the completed Bachelor's programme (requirements may vary by Master's programme)
If your degree was not obtained in Germany, it must be individually assessed by the university. A processing fee of 50 EUR per application is charged. The fee must be paid during the online application process.
🗣️ Language Requirements
We only accept the two certificates listed below – other proofs of language proficiency will not be accepted.
German certificate: not required
English proficiency (for non-native speakers):

To ensure your application to Schmalkalden University runs smoothly, you will need the following documents:

✔️ Proof of language proficiency (depending on the type of programme – not required for native speakers)
✔️ Copy of your passport or national ID card
✔️ Passport photo for your student ID card (Thoska)
✔️ APS certificate (Applicants with qualifications from India, Vietnam, or China must also include a valid APS certificate, which must be applied for in advance in their home country)
