Once you have made your choice of study programme, it is very important that you submit your online application or your written application before the application deadline. National applicants with a German university entrance qualification please use the online form for their application for all Bachelor's degree programmes at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences:
An online application is already possible if you do not have your final Abitur grade etc. yet. Please enter your expected grade point average. A subsequent correction will be made after the student administration has received your certified copy of your final school leaving certificate.
International applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification (HZB) should apply in writing for a place on a Bachelor's degree programme. You can find all information on this as well as the application for admission here:

If you are applying for a part-time Bachelor's or Master's degree programme as well as for a certificate programme at the Centre for Continuing Education (ZfW) at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, please use the corresponding forms on the ZfW website:

Erasmus+
If you are studying at one of our ERASMUS+ partner universities, you can complete one or two exchange semesters at Schmalkalden University as part of the ERASMUS+ programme. In this case, you must first apply internally via your exchange coordinator for a place with us. Your coordinator will then nominate you for an exchange place through our exchange coordinator. We will then send you an e-mail including an application form, which you should complete, sign and return to us by May 31st for the following winter semester or by November 30th for the following summer semester: mobilitätsverwaltung@hs-schmalkalden.de

Important: If you are planning to study at Schmalkalden University as part of a double-degree programme with another university, you must indicate this accordingly in the application form.
After the application deadline, you will receive further useful information from us as well as the declaration of acceptance that you may need to apply for a visa.
After successful registration at our university, you can prepare for your stay in Schmalkalden. An important prerequisite for this is the Learning Agreement, which you must submit to receive ERASMUS+ funding. To do this, you can select courses at our university in which you would like to participate. Talk to your ERASMUS+ coordinator at your home university about courses that are suitable for you. We ask you to submit your Learning Agreement before the semester begins. It will then be signed by the foreign coordinator of the relevant faculty at Schmalkalden University and returned to you.
You will also need to provide some documents as part of the application process:
- 2 pictures, passport size
- 6 copies of your passport (photo page only) or your EU ID card
- Copy of your university entrance qualification
- Copy of your matriculation certificate
Final-year students
National applicants with a German university entrance qualification please use the online form for their application for all Bachelor's degree programmes at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences: Online-Form.

Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences is part of the network "The Magellan Exchange" with higher education institutions from 14 different countries. If you are studying at one of the member universities, you can spend a semester at Schmalkalden University through this programme. As soon as you have been allocated a place at our university by Magellan, we will contact you by e-mail and ask you to send us the completed and signed application form:
