Prof. Dr. Matthias Lippold

Since the winter semester 2025/26, Matthias Lippold has been Professor of Business Psychology at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences. 

After completing his Abitur and civil service in Wilhelmshaven, he studied psychology at the University of Göttingen. He also completed his doctoral degree in Göttingen in the Department of Social and Economic Psychology, focusing on group performance in judgment tasks. He subsequently worked for several years in the field of personnel assessment. During this time, he conducted online assessment centers and developed as well as evaluated selection procedures for various client groups.

His research interests combine basic research, particularly on methodological issues, with applied topics in business and organizational psychology. A particular focus lies on the application of psychological knowledge in organizational contexts, especially in the areas of personnel selection, group processes, and decision making.
