Researchers from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering represented Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences at the 10th Thuringian Mechanical Engineering Day at the Comcenter Brühl in Erfurt. This year’s conference focused on the topic “Autonomization and Automation for Modern and Efficient Production” and brought together companies, research institutions, and innovation leaders from Thuringia.
Mohammad Tariqul Islam and Boban Alexander from the Robotics and Automation Technology department, along with representatives from Applied Plastics Technology, presented a mobile field robot called “Grasshopper,” which was developed at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences. They also demonstrated a laser-based weed control system as part of Boban Alexander’s master’s thesis at E-Terry.
The event provided a great opportunity to present research projects to a broader professional audience and to receive valuable feedback on them.
The conference was organized by Innovativ Thüringen, part of LEG, and the Thuringian Center for Mechanical Engineering. For over ten years, the Mechanical Engineering Day has followed a clear philosophy: to bring business and science together and to highlight application-oriented innovations.
