On September 1, Johannes Liebrich will join the team at the School of Electrical Engineering as a new professor. With his academic expertise in the field of electrical machines and drive technology, as well as his experience in industrial development, he brings a wide range of perspectives and know-how to the professorship.
After completing a dual degree program and a master’s degree with a focus on electrified powertrains, Professor Liebrich earned his Ph.D. at Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. There, his research focused, among other things, on the service life and failure modes of superconducting machines. He then spent several years working as a development engineer at the automaker Alpina.
In his new role, Johannes Liebrich aims to combine his experience from research and industry and, in particular, to design a practical teaching program. He places great importance on inspiring students to take an interest in his field and preparing them as best as possible for their future careers.
Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences warmly welcomes Professor Liebrich and wishes him a successful start.
