University Assembly

A new body is the University Assembly, which comprises the voting members of the Extended Senate and the external members of the University Council.

Among other things, the University Assembly is responsible for electing the President and the Chancellor.

In addition, the University Assembly decides on the structural and development plans and their updating. The other members of the Senate (in an advisory capacity) and the University Council (with voting rights) also participate in this process.

The Equal Opportunities Officer and the Diversity Officer are to be invited as members and have the right to attend, submit motions and speak.

The Chair of the Staff Council and the representative for severely disabled staff are also entitled to attend meetings of the University Assembly and have the right to submit motions and speak.

The University Assembly – which meets at least once a calendar year – is chaired by the Chair of the University Council.

Legal basis: Thuringian Higher Education Act, Section 36.
