Places of encounter

In an open atmosphere, people can meet and talk to each other in a natural way. Varying formats such as storytelling cafés, vision meetings and future workshops take place regularly in the WORT project's meeting office at Auer Gasse 12 and in the BUKS e.V. milk hall at Weidebrunner Gasse 6. The aim is for everyone to meet at eye level and for these horizon-broadening encounters to provide deeper insights into everyone's experiences and adventures.

WORT project office and creative space Auer Gasse

Internationality, cosmopolitanism and diversity are distinctive features of Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences. This is what we stand for in our word. In the WORT - Weltoffene Region Thüringens project, we also want to work together with the city to create a cosmopolitan region.

The city and university are already closely linked and want to move even closer together. Moving closer together for encounters, dialogue and networking. And this requires places. One of these places is Auer Gasse 12 in the centre of Schmalkalden. It is the project office of the cosmopolitan region of Thuringia and at the same time a showcase for the university in the city. In addition to the office workstations at Auer Gasse 12, there is also a multifunctional room available for various event formats.

If you are interested in organising an event in Auer Gasse, you are welcome to contact the WORT project team.

MILCHHALLE Café, bistro, culture and events

BUKS e.V. is responsible for the Milchhalle and runs the café as well as organising and staging participatory event formats. The idea for this venue was developed in close cooperation between BUKS e.V. (Bunte Kultur Schmalkalden), Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences and the town of Schmalkalden. Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences is supporting numerous participatory event formats in the Milchhalle on a temporary basis. The city of Schmalkalden is particularly interested in international students, professionals and residents settling in and feeling at home in the city and the region and also supports them.

If you are interested in promoting the Milchhalle, whether through ideas for organising your own event formats or volunteering in the café, you are welcome to contact BUKS e.V..
