The University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, South Africa, with over 33,000 students in seven faculties, is one of Schmalkalden University's newer partner universities. Mareike Heinemann, professor and international coordinator of the Faculty of Business and Economics, visited the UFS from September 11 to 15, 2023.
During her visit, she lectured at the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences on topics of financial modeling as well as corporate finance and shared her practical experience with the large number of interested bachelor and master students. She also gave a lecture to the faculty on known decision biases of financial market actors and to what extent investment funds using insights from Behavioural Finance successfully 'beat the market', as well as on possible debiasing strategies to avoid potential negative effects of cognitive biases.
Students from our university are very welcome at UFS with its beautiful and large campus. The Auslandskolloquium of the Faculty of Business and Economics informs interested (bachelor) students about the possibility of studying abroad at one of the numerous partner universities worldwide - including UFS, as well as about the application modalities and deadline. The first date of the Auslandskolloquium will take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 6:15 pm in room C 0101.
