The formnext trade fair in Frankfurt am Main is an international trade fair for additive manufacturing technologies and their upstream and downstream processes. Students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering joined the Additive Manufacturing working group of the German Tool and Mold Making Association on a guided tour of the trade fair to learn about additive manufacturing technologies and applications. In addition to systems for the selective laser melting process, they learned about the possibilities for applications in toolmaking, the production of prototypes or the production and processing of new high-carbon high-speed steels and special alloys.
