Campus Visit to Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences

Welcome to our campus! Are you a teacher interested in introducing your students to college life? Are you looking for a change of pace from the daily school routine? Would you like to offer your students a variety of activities to help them explore different career paths?
Then you’ve come to the right place. Every class is different, and students’ preferences vary widely—just like the current requirements at school. That’s no problem for us: The campus visit can be customized from a wide variety of options.

Even if students’ interests vary, it’s possible to offer different programs in smaller groups. Our five departments—Economics, Business Law, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering—cover a broad range of disciplines.

You can structure your campus visit using the following components:

Everything here is within a 10-minute walk: all the academic buildings, the sports facilities, the cafeteria, the library... Come explore our American-style, green campus with your students.

Let your students engage in conversation with real experts—our students are available to answer questions and offer advice on choosing a major. They’re best suited to share stories from their daily lives and provide an authentic glimpse into college life.

Workshops on sustainability, programming mini-robots, or building machines from LEGO sets—the Student Research Center offers all of this. A wide variety of ideas and workshops can take place here. You can also drop by for an “Open Doors” visit—just come in and look around.

Putting together our own formats and projects is no problem for us. Thanks to the wide range of offerings here at the university, we can work with you to organize full-day projects or even an entire week (“Get Smart”).

We’ll introduce your students to the university, explain what they can expect here, and describe the degree programs available. Of course, we also offer more subject-specific presentations on topics that may be relevant to their current schoolwork, specific fields of study, and so on. Please let us know what you’re looking for.

The seminar course is an exciting but also challenging phase for your students. Academic writing is a skill that must be learned and isn’t always easy, especially at the beginning. We’d like to help: Our library offers training sessions on academic writing, assists with finding a topic, and answers any questions you may have. In addition, our professors give a lecture that highlights common mistakes and provides valuable tips. Help your students navigate the seminar course well-prepared and with confidence—we’re here to help!

Of course, your students can also tour the faculties’ “labs.” Depending on their interests, we can arrange for them to visit a photo studio, a podcast studio, or a lab for applied plastics engineering (and many others).
