Welcome to Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences!
Our special programme is designed to help all new students settle in, meet new people, and get familiar with the university and the city.
Whether you are joining us as an exchange student or as a degree-seeking student, coming from close by or far away, we warmly invite you to take part in our activities and become part of our SUAS community.

Thoska Collection (Exchange Students Only)
Your Thoska is your official student ID card that gives you access to various university services, including the library and Mensa.
Please note the following collection dates and procedures apply to Exchange Students.
You can pick up your Thoska at the Student Service Zone (SSZ) in Building H, room 0014, on the following special collection dates:
- Wednesday, April 1st, 2026 - from 12:00 to 16:00
- Tuesday, April 7th, 2026 - from 12:00 to 16:00
If you are unable to collect it on these dates, you can pick up your Thoska during the regular opening hours: Monday to Thursday, from 13:00 to 15:00 in Building A, room A0009.

17:00 – Welcome Info Session for Exchange Students
Join us to receive key information for your semester, including course registration and your first steps in Germany. The session will take place in Building H, room H0002.
Hosted by: Dr. Paul Voerkel, Head of International Office & Centre for cross-faculty Learning.

Right after the info session, join us for our traditional welcome grill!
